Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, also known as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), is one of the most effective martial arts for self-defence, and people of every age and fitness level can master it. Classes for kids, women and adults in Erina and Woy Woy.

Programs
One academy, five ways in: from Piranhas aged two through to black belts, plus Muay Thai and yoga for grapplers.
The Gracie principle
In most fights, size and strength decide who wins. Gracie Jiu-Jitsu was built to change that.
Joint locks, chokeholds and correct positioning move the balance point, just like sliding the pivot of a lever.
BJJ’s driving principle: a smaller, weaker person using proper technique can successfully defeat a bigger, stronger opponent.
Why train with us

Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is a proven, effective form of self-defence. The same techniques you will learn are taught to the U.S. Army, FBI, Secret Service and other elite military and law enforcement agencies. Because so many street fights end up on the ground, its focus on ground grappling makes it the best martial art for self-defence.
Training with experienced, qualified instructors will dramatically boost your conditioning, endurance and flexibility, all contributing to better general health.
We pride ourselves on a relaxed, safe, enjoyable and ego-free training environment. Our students always look forward to the next session.
Competing is completely optional. For those who want to test themselves, many students compete in grappling tournaments and MMA events, gi and no-gi. Our student base includes Jiu-Jitsu champions and professional MMA fighters.
Values we train: Discipline, Courtesy, Self-control, Confidence, Character, Concentration, Teamwork, Focus.

Quick answers
The questions we hear most from people walking in for the first time.
Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is a complete self-defence system that has been taught to hundreds of law enforcement agencies and thousands of civilians around the world. It emphasises simple movements, practical techniques and realistic scenarios.
No. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. The Gracie family is the Brazilian family responsible for creating the martial art. The late Carlos Gracie Sr. learned Japanese Jiu-Jitsu and opened the first Gracie Academy. His younger brother Hélio Gracie adapted those techniques, creating what is known as Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Today it is taught all around the world thanks to the courage, hard work and sacrifice of the Gracie family and their loyal students.
Calling it Gracie Jiu-Jitsu credits the art’s Japanese roots while recognising the family who revolutionised it and shared it with the world. Today, the major difference between styles lies between Hélio Gracie’s Traditional Gracie Jiu-Jitsu for self-defence and Sport Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu designed for point competition. As a student, make sure you verify the credentials, lineage and background of your possible instructors.
Yes. Call us on 0423 615 480 or book online and your first class is free. Choose any class you like.
Yes. Men and women, girls and boys can safely learn Traditional Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, even with little or no experience of any vigorous activity.
Student safety is a primary concern in every class. Completing the Fundamentals curriculum reduces the possibility of injury to a minimal level. Grand Master Hélio Gracie’s teaching methods constantly emphasise keeping students out of harm’s way. Accidents can happen, but most injuries come from a lack of seriousness and careless technique, and careless practice is disrespectful to the spirit of Traditional Gracie Jiu-Jitsu.
