Gracie jiu-jitsu Central Coast was founded in 2009 by Tiago Ferreira, specifically to introduce Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to the Central Coast, Australia. Tiago arrived in Sydney in 2007, already a black belt for 4 years he commenced teaching for Bruno Panno at Gracie Sydney.
Since arriving Tiago has been competing with great results. For a complete list see the head coach titles under the Head Professor tab. Teacher Tiago Ferreira is a student of the Gracie family of Brazil, the founders of this style of martial art. After learning the art in the most prestigious academy in the world and being awarded his teaching qualifications directly from the arts founders.
Before deciding that Jiu Jitsu was for him, at age eight Tiago tried Kung Fu, at age nine he changed to Karate, then at age ten he tried Judo and from age eleven to thirteen it was Taekwondo. It was at age thirteen he first saw the UFC – Royce Gracie won and proved how Jiu Jitsu is a superior martial art. In 1992 Tiago started training at Gracie Florianopolis, Brazil, under the masters Rilion Gracie and Crolim Gracie. In 2000 Tiago trained with Rickson Gracie in California, USA, by this time he was already a purple belt. After training as a brown belt for three years Tiago was awarded his black belt from Crolim Gracie in 2004 and for the remainder of his time in Brazil he was training hard, teaching and also competing.
After being in Australia for 2 years, Tiago realised that the Central Coast was missing a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt, so he decided to start teaching and show his students what Jiu Jitsu can do for them. It’s now your opportunity to learn him and his 25 years experience.
